Law Enforcement Exploring is a community service, career-oriented program designed to educate young men and women, ages 14-21, about Law Enforcement. GOALS
Exploring reaches out to New York City's young adults in every community to help build up relations between the community and New York City Police Department. Explorers of Post 2226 are taught the importance of higher education, self discipline, and respect for authority while they actively participate in community service projects and other Exploring events.
Exploring relies on three primary methods to attain its goals: youth leadership, positive adult role models, and the five Exploring Experience Areas.
Youth Leadership: The Explorers elect their own officers and are promoted within a rank structure. Explorers will plan and execute most of their activities. This process will encourage Explorers to see how their self-discipline can either help or impair the group.
Positive Adult Role Models: The positive interaction of Explorers and Law Enforcement Officers help young adults see officers as real people, and affords opportunities to build positive relationships between the New York City Police Department and the communities of our city.
Five Experience Areas: Exploring feels that an appreciation and commitment to the following areas are crucial to the development of all young people: Life Skills, Service Learning, Character Education, Leadership Experience, and Career.
In Post 2069 we focus on four major priorities. For one our motto is adapt over come and improvise in which our explorers use in daily life. Our number one focus is education, in our post you must have an 75 percent average or else will be put on a probation period and also you must submit monthly progress reports. Our second priority is family and respect. You must be good at home as well as school and you must have permission from parent to attend the post. The parents can come to the post at any given moment to watch us. Our third priority is trust and honest, you must respect every explorer and their ranks and also we must be able to rely on you and count on you to be on point and on task. Penalty is an automatic 25 military push-ups additional to anything else given. Our post is paramilitary in which brings us to our last priority. You must be an explorer at all times at home and in school live as an explorer carry yourself as an explorer and don't do anything to embrace yourself or the post. If you’re wearing the uniform wear it properly and honor it.
